What do you enjoy about KOMA?

I most appreciate the flexibility that my job at KOMA affords me. Since August of 1994, after my oldest daughter was born, I have worked part-time. I average about 24 hours per week; some weeks 10 hours and some weeks 60 hours. I have been able to be at home with my kids and available to volunteer at school and for other activities.

On my travel bucket list..

I would really like to go to Cuba. I grew in Miami, only 96 miles away, and went to school with lots of kids whose families left Cuba after Castro took power. I hope to travel there with a good friend who left Cuba at that time and hasn’t been back since.

Best advice you’ve gotten?

When my sister and brother-in-law were expecting their first daughter he was amazed at how freely people gave unsolicited advice. He told me that the best response many times was, “To just nod and smile.” I think this is good advice in all kinds of situations.

When I’m not at work I like to…

I really like to share a meal with family and friends and we do it as many times a week as we can. I also thoroughly enjoy riding my bike all over town. I usually ride alone and ride 25 to 50 miles at a time. It is great fun to see the Twin Cities from a different perspective.
