As First National Bank Northfield merged with Merchants Bank, a facelift and rebrand was in order. The Northfield history and traditional bones of the historic building needed to be respected while updating the interior to support current and future banking processes. The beautiful existing stone-clad columns and traditional wood millwork was retained, while adding customer service offices, reducing the teller line and adding a reception station in clear view of the entry vestibule. A contemporary soffit above the teller line draws the customer into the space, while new LED lighting brightens the space, complimenting the new finishes and furniture. Unseen by the public, the employee breakroom, reminiscent of a dated church basement, was transformed into a bright and cheerful multi-functional amenity space, taking full advantage of full height exterior windows overlooking the adjacent downtown Northfield surroundings.
