The sculpture was designed and created for the annual NBA All-Star Jam Session, a series of events and activities created for basketball fans by Minneapolis based Vee Corporation and the NBA. Constructed in 2013 for the Houston-based event, the design is a fusion of a globe and basketball, representing the traveling NBA. Standing at 30 feet tall with a diameter of 20 feet, the globe was specifically designed to assemble and disassemble allowing it to travel to different cities.
