The R&E Center project involved two main improvements: a new metal building addition (DCB Addition) for receiving municipal solid waste (MSW) and a third processing line (RRS) within the existing facility. The DCB Addition included an area for receiving MSW, robotic sorting for durable compostable bags (DCB), and sorting the remaining waste for processing. There was also a separate section for resident drop-off waste. The RRS component added a third processing line to boost recyclable material recovery, requiring careful coordination due to limited space near existing processing lines.
