Columbia County Waste Transfer & Recycling Facility

PARDEEVILLE, WI

The project consists of a 37,400 square foot metal building developed to replace an existing building that was damaged by a fire.  The facility accommodates the demands of municipal solid waste (MSW) and recycling operations and was organized to have distinct zones for recyclable material processing, a tip floor for MSW, and a transfer bay for semi-trailer load-out. Translucent panels along the clerestory introduce natural light deep into the building improving visibility and cutting back on artificial lighting needs.

Connected to the main structure is a 1,400 square foot office area which includes restrooms, lockers, a break area, and a supervisor’s office with direct views of the processing floor to support operational oversight. The facility is protected by a full sprinkler system, supplied by a 160,000 gallon above-ground fire water tank and pump room.
