March 2014 – Woodbury, MN – The Nebraska based outdoor equipment retailer, Cabela’s, is quickly expanding with a number of new retail sites nationwide. The company currently has announced 19 upcoming locations in the United States and Canada. Locally, Woodbury is the home of the next retail store and with the help of the engineers at Krech, O’Brien, Mueller and Associates (KOMA), will open this spring.
The recognizable wood rafters and trusses in the retail store’s design are provided by Structural Wood Corporation, a local St Paul company. Working with Structural Wood, KOMA’s engineer Matthew Van Hoof designs and certifies them for the Engineer of Record. Woodbury’s location is the 7th Cabela’s designed by KOMA and supplied by Structural Wood. While the locations have a recognizable design, not every location is exactly the same; the wood rafters and trusses can be found in the main building, in the front entry, or in a picnic area. “Having each retail location slightly different provides some interest in each individual project”, says Matt, “I look forward to seeing how each designer takes the trusses and fits them for that particular site and enjoy partnering with Structural Wood to make these systems work.”
