October, 2011 – Inver Grove Heights, Minn. – Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates recently announced that structural engineers Matt Van Hoof, PE, and Michael Lisowski, PE, will present at the 2012 Annual Institute for Building Officials. The Institute will take place January 4-13, 2012, at the University of Minnesota’s Continuing Education and Conference Center in St. Paul, Minn.
Van Hoof and Lisowski will present two sessions on Wednesday, January 11. Their presentation – titled Structural Engineering for Residential Construction – will focus on providing building officials, inspectors and others with an inside look at updates to the Minnesota building code and rules, as well informing the audience about emerging issues in structural engineering.
“This is an opportunity for us to help educate and inform building officials about issues related to structural engineering prior to reviewing plans or visiting a project site,” said Van Hoof. “Given our broad structural experience across multiple commercial industries as well as with residential projects, we feel we can provide a unique perspective on many of the structural points of interest.”
The Annual Institute for Building Officials provides a continuing education opportunity for code officials and inspectors from the building, electrical, fire, housing, mechanical, elevator, and plumbing fields as well as permit technicians. Institute sessions offer opportunities to learn about code rules and amendments, best practices for inspection and code administration, and innovative products in the marketplace.
