Have you seen the news lately? Our projects are everywhere! OK, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration … they’re not everywhere. But they certainly seem to keep popping up. From “Best of” lists to “Must See!” articles, projects that bear our fingerprints have certainly seen their share of ink recently.
The Frank Gehry Winton Guest House relocation project – on which we provided structural engineering and architectural services – got some nice pub in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and Architecture Minnesota. Our structural engineers worked with project architect BDH + Young on the Crystal Medical Center which Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal named Best Medical Office Development. Gertens has long made use of our structural engineering and architectural services and appeared in a StarTribune article on design. That same article – as well as Mpls.St.Paul Magazine – gave some special attention to the KOHLER Signature Store by First Supply, a recent project for which we provided architectural services.
I have to admit, it’s both fun and gratifying to see attention heaped on projects of which we were a part. Are all the stories and articles specifically about our role in the project? Of course not. But in each case we like to think our involvement helped elevate the project to something media-worthy.
Here at KOMA, we do excellent work and we’re proud of it. And it feels good to see some of these “high profile” projects get the attention they deserve.
But at the end of the day, we do what we do not because we want recognition or pats on the back. We do it because we love it and because we value the clients with whom we work.
It might sound old fashioned, but for us it’s true: a thing worth doing is worth doing well. Whether it’s a high-profile, highly visible job, or something smaller and less conspicuous, we’re excited and energized by each and every project that comes our way.
Will this approach grab headlines? Probably not. But that’s just fine with us.
