St. Paul, MN
HOPE Community Academy serves the Twin Cities Metro Hmong population and its early success as a charter school created the need for major expansion – from an elementary school to one serving all K through 12 grade students. A three story addition to the school’s existing building on its very tight East St. Paul site includes middle and high school classrooms, a two story media center, and new main offices. Renovations to the existing facility allowed for an expanded cafeteria as well as expanded space for music, art, and the youngest students, emphasizing improved daylighting. The school’s addition also includes a full gymnasium, which also is designed as a storm shelter to meet the emergency needs of the entire school population.
