June, 2009 – Inver Grove Heights, MN – Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates, Inc., recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Inver Grove Heights City Hall as the $15.7 million project got underway.
Working with longtime strategic partner Linda McCracken-Hunt, KOMA is providing owner’s representative services for the city hall project. Led by Dan O’Brien, AIA, CID, and Keith Peters, the group will manage the day-to-day work of all the entities involved with the project, including the project architect (BKV).
“This owners representative work is an extension of our commitment to partner building and team building,” said O’Brien. “Since our start in 1985, we’ve made it a point to provide clients with services above and beyond straightforward engineering or design work. In this case, we’ll help the City of Inver Grove Heights work with BKV and manage all phases of the city hall project. From examining complete project costs, to assisting with contract bidding and awarding, to facilitating the logistics of server and phone needs, to being their eyes and ears during the construction process, we’re there to bring our expertise and experience to bear on behalf of the city.”
The new city hall will replace the 30-year-old structure with a “green” building featuring high-energy efficient glass windows, sustainable materials and a geothermal heating system that uses 160 wells to tap into the earth’s own heating and cooling properties. The building will house city hall and public safety buildings, including the city police and fire stations. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in two years.
