Gopher Resource Corporation and The Recycling Zone needed to enhance their facility to reflect their expanded services and create a more welcoming, friendly, customer-focused atmosphere. KOMA designed new signage, a revamped main entrance, enhanced materials-processing and customer-service areas, and more functional training and conference spaces. Making use of sustainable materials was key, as KOMA employed the use of Vetrazzo recycled glass (85% recycled) and Shetkastone (100% post-consumer) surfaces; Environ Biocomposite panels in desks, cabinets and sills; and ECOsurfaces recycled rubber flooring. Also used were low-VOC paint products, recycled ceiling tiles and Halo LED can-lights that consume 75% less energy than ordinary lights.
