Animal Emergency Clinic Expands into New Facility

June, 2009 – Oakdale, MN – Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates, Inc., recently announced its role in assisting Animal Emergency Clinic to develop a new facility to accommodate the needs of emergency veterinary medicine, critical care and surgical specialties. Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) is an affiliation of east-metro veterinarians who came together to create a regional medical organization to provide crucial care services not otherwise available.

KOMA will be providing structural engineering, architectural and interior design services for both phases of the approximately 14,000 square-foot facility. AEC has outgrown their current facility and has secured a nearby site that can accommodate a significantly larger building with easy access.

Lead architect and KOMA principal Dan O’Brien, AIA, CID, said, “AEC is taking a big step forward by developing this facility. It will provide high-end, sophisticated services for its clientele, and act as a ‘home base’ for specialized surgeons.”

O’Brien continued, “It’s an absolute delight to have the opportunity to work with AEC. We worked with the Minneapolis Animal Care and Control Clinic in the past, which – while not a clinic like the AEC – shares some commonalities with the facility. As a firm, we thoroughly enjoy bringing our engineering, architectural and interior design services to bear on a project that clearly benefits so many.”

Currently in the design phase, the AEC facility will feature soundproof spaces to control noise, specially designed plumbing and HVAC systems to deal with disease control, a workflow-friendly layout and an overall aesthetic created to enhance the quality of medical care.
